1983-2008: N.S.P. 25th Anniversary!

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!


Saturday, November 1, 2008 - 3pm
at Stuyvesant Heights Christian Church

PRESS RELEASE

NSP, a Brooklyn-based organization dedicated to empowering youth through the arts, leadership, and community service, turns 25.  The youth of NSP will honor the past, and present the future of performing arts on Saturday, November 1, 2008.  A semi-formal banquet scheduled for 3:00pm will take place at Stuyvesant Heights Christian Church, 69 MacDonough Street , Brooklyn , NY .

 On this day, NSP will recognize 25 groups and/or individuals who have made a difference in making NSP what it is today.  A total of 60 individuals, who have helped paved the way through their membership in NSP, or their influence to our youth and community will be honored.

 

Among the honorees, we will recognize:

Jitu Weusi, Community Activist

Talib Kweli, Hip Hop Artist

Lavern Gittens, Television Producer

Kai “FlyKai” Crawford, Film/Video Director

Other honorees will include the original Much Finesse hip hop group, (rappers and dancers), the original Friends and Strangers Jazz Band (1996), including jazz vocalist, Charenee Wade, the original NSP Fashion Models, and many more.

The event will feature a fashion show from several of Brooklyn ’s young designers as well as performances from our music and theatre arts departments.  Tickets for the event will be $20.

Guests are asked to RSVP by Monday, October 13, 2008.  There is an open casting call for fashion designers who would like to showcase their garments in the youth fashion show. For additional information, please call 718-415-3474.
